The work of the ECS Transition Planning and Postsecondary Education Unit centers around two key goals for all individuals with disabilities:
  • Increasing Success in Post High School Outcomes and
  • Increasing Access to and Success in Postsecondary Education.
Our work toward these goals is across disability categories, across diversity areas (e.g. ethnicity, gender), across school settings (e.g. traditional, alternative, juvenile justice), and across school and age levels (e.g. middle school, high school, young adult). Both goals can be further broken down into broad research areas and further into general research objectives. These general research objectives demonstrate how we plan to impact research and practice within the field of special education. We intend not only to raise and answer specific questions related to our research objectives, but also to document effective practices for sustainability and replicability of projects within these objectives.
