Bonnie Doren received her Ph.D. in 1987 from Temple University in Cognitive Psychology. She came to the University of Oregon in 1988 where she began work in the area of Secondary Special Education and Transition.

Since 1996 Dr. Doren has been awarded and managed over 10 research, model demonstration and outreach projects totaling approximately 6 million dollars, focusing on:
a) establishing predictors of post-school outcomes;
b) addressing the career development and transition needs of young women with disabilities;
c) development of self-advocacy and self determination skills in the context of transition planning for students with disabilities.

Dr. Doren's primary teaching responsibilities have been in the secondary special education master's and licensure program teaching courses focusing on adolescent development and schools to careers.
