PBIS Assessment

About:

PBIS Assessment is a web-based application designed to assist in high-fidelity, sustained implementation of school-wide positive behavior support (SWPBS).  The goal of the website is to improve the efficiency and accuracy with which tool/instrument can be used to complete three functions:

  • Initial Assessment of discipline practices to determine if and how SWPBIS should be adopted
  • Implementation Assessment of the fidelity with which SWPBIS procedures are being used, and the design of "action plans" to improve implementation fidelity
  • Sustained Assessment of the implementation of SWPBIS at all three tiers to facilitate on-going use of core SWPBIS features

School teams engaged in the adoption of SWPBIS use PBIS Assessment to guide implementation of SWPBIS with high fidelity.  A major feature of SWPBIS is commitment to the on-going too/instrument of intervention fidelity.  Practices that are not implemented well are less likely to benefit students, faculty and families.  PBIS Assessment provides tools and instruments that allow examination of the level of SWPBIS adoption, and guidance for how to improve implementation to a level that will benefit students.

Coaches and coordinators responsible for assisting school teams use PBIS Assessment to determine which schools are collecting and using data, how schools are progressing, and what support may be of greatest value for any one team.

Research/evaluation teams use PBIS Assessment as a way to help schools in their research and evaluation projects to enter data about SWPBIS implementation fidelity.  Research/evaluation teams are also able to monitor which schools have entered data at any specific point in time.

PBIS Assessment will include tools and instruments for research, annual assessment and progress monitoring of implementation of SWPBIS.

Criteria for including a tool/instrument to PBIS Assessment:

  • Reliable and evidence-based
  • Consistent across states
  • Meets need(s) not duplicated by tool/instrument currently in use

Current tools/instruments:

  • School-Wide Evaluation Tool (SET)
  • Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ) Revised
  • PBIS Self Assessment Survey (SAS)
  • Team Implementation Checklist (TIC 3.0)
  • School Safety Survey

Three reports will be available for each tool/instrument:

  • Total Score
  • Subscale Score
  • Individual Item

Two action plan templates will be available within PBIS Assessment:

  • School Wide (Tier 1) Action Plan
  • Tier 2 and 3 Action Plan
  • Individual Item

PBIS Assessment will include information on each of the assessments and a template for States/Districts/Schools to develop the evaluation plan.  The evaluation plan will not include all the tools/instruments available in PBIS Assessment.  Sites will select the tools/instruments that best meet the needs of the State/District/School in assessment SWPBIS implementation.
