School and Community Supports

Participating Faculty: Rick Albin, Steve Newton, Brigid Flannery, Roz Slovic, Joyce Dean, Andrea Cioffi, Mimi McGrath.

The School and Community Supports work group conducts research, development, and evaluation activities focused on practices and systems for supporting people with disabilities at home, school, and work. Work group activities address the delivery of support at the individual person and broader systems level, and address people with disabilities across the age range from children to adults. Work group personnel collaborate with the Oregon Seniors and People with Disabilities Division, Oregon Department of Education, Vocational Rehabilitation Division, Centers for Independent Living, service provider agencies and organizations, community colleges, public schools, and other researchers and technical assistance providers on projects addressing topics such as individualized support planning, transition from school to work, employment outcomes for persons with disabilities, quality assurance and quality improvement systems in human services, peer mentors, and self-determination.
